About ABA

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically proven approach that helps understand how behavior is influenced by the environment. When we talk about "behavior," we refer to everyday actions and skills. "Environment" includes everything that can influence or be influenced by these actions—from people and social interactions to everyday situations.
In ABA therapy, we use different teaching methods to help children learn new skills in a practical and efficient way. Furthermore, a well-planned intervention can reduce behaviors that hinder development (such as tantrums, refusal, avoidance, self-harm, or aggression), always in a respectful and individualized manner.
Before beginning treatment, we conduct careful assessments to understand the function of each behavior. This ensures that the plan is tailored to the child's specific needs.
ABA's goals are always focused on what makes a difference in real life: teaching socially meaningful skills, promoting autonomy, and supporting children to achieve a better quality of life at home, school, and in the community.

Bilingual Services

Diverse Kids is a center that offers treatment in the client's primary language. We offer treatment in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
Language is at the heart of therapeutic work. It allows therapists to build trust, express empathy, and understand the inner experiences of both their clients and themselves. When a client is not comfortable communicating in English, the quality of treatment can suffer. For children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, language development should be a primary focus, as many individuals on the spectrum experience challenges with communication.
A meta-analysis of 76 published and unpublished quantitative studies found that therapy for ethnic minority clients who received services in their native language was, on average, twice as effective as therapy in English. It also found that interventions designed for a specific culture are four times more effective than interventions designed for multiple minority groups (Bailey, D. S. (2007, February). Therapy is twice as effective in clients' native language.                                           Monitor on Psychology, 38(2).                                               ( https://www.apa.org/monitor/feb07/therapy).

Behavior Management

As parents and professionals, we often encounter challenging behaviors that need to be understood and addressed. To achieve this, we use functional behavioral assessment (FBA), a tool that helps us understand why a child behaves in a certain way.
Functional analysis investigates how behaviors relate to the environment—that is, what situations, people, or events can influence or maintain these behaviors. With this information, we can identify the functions of the behavior (such as seeking attention, avoiding tasks, or obtaining something desired).
This process allows us to develop effective strategies, adjusting the antecedents (what happens before the behavior) and the consequences (what happens afterward), to promote positive and lasting changes.
Our goal is always to support the child and family, reducing challenges and strengthening skills that truly make a difference in daily life.

Mightier

Mightier is a biofeedback-based tool that aims to strengthen the emotional

Plugo

Plugo, by PlayShifu, is an interactive and educational gaming system that combines physical toys with digital games to make learning fun and engaging for children. It uses augmented reality (AR) to transform screen time into a hands-on learning experience.

Designed for children ages 4 to 10, Plugo helps develop essential skills such as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning, problem-solving and critical thinking, literacy and storytelling, logical reasoning, and motor skills.

Osmo

Osmo is an educational system that combines physical play with digital learning, designed especially for children ages 3 to 10 and older. Using a tablet and a special reflective camera accessory, Osmo transforms the space in front of the screen into an interactive play area.

Children use real-world objects—such as number tiles, letter tiles, drawing tools, and boards—while the Osmo app "sees" and responds to their movements in real time. It's a hands-on, screen-based learning experience that feels like play but develops skills like reading and spelling, creativity, math, and numeracy, among others.

Play Attention

Play Attention is a comprehensive neurocognitive training program that combines brain-sensing technology with interactive cognitive games. It utilizes a NASA-inspired wearable device called BrainWave, which measures and responds to the user's attention level in real time. This unique combination of mental training and feedback provides targeted support for the development of key executive function skills.
