Our Story

With you at every step

From the very beginning of her academic career, Dr. Patricia Muñoz always dreamed of uniting science and care—and that was precisely what motivated her to found the Patricia Muñoz Behavioral and Research Center. Throughout her career, she specialized in autism, ADHD, and applied behavior analysis, earned important certifications, and developed a sensitive focus on the needs of children and their families.
At every stage—whether in research, teaching, or clinical care—her direction has always been clear: to offer interventions based on scientific evidence with care, respect, and empathy. This combination of technical precision and human warmth has become the foundation of our history.
Today, this legacy lives on in the clinic, the research center, and the website you are visiting. Our journey continues guided by the same values: technical excellence, innovation, and, above all, a genuine commitment to the well-being of families and the development of children.

My Story

I have a degree in Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology from the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. I completed my Master's and Doctorate degrees at the Institute of Psychology at the University of São Paulo. During my Master's, I researched animal-assisted therapy and interactions with children with autism, and during my Doctorate, I studied how children with autism recognize emotions. I hold a Psychologist's license in Brazil (CRP 06-54773) and a Behavior Analyst license in the United States (QBA #17127 and LBA 8404).

During my Doctorate, I also studied at Harvard Medical School, where I completed, among other courses, a course on Child Psychotherapy and another on risk and self-injurious behaviors.

I worked for 16 years as a school administrator and clinical director of a special education school, which gave me the opportunity to learn about and study various clinical cases, such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and autism spectrum disorder.

After these years leading the special education school and the multidisciplinary clinic, I moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for two years as a Coordinator for an organization that serves refugee children and adolescents. It was an excellent experience, and I was able to work with clinical cases involving trauma and cultural adaptation.

With all this clinical experience and my academic knowledge, I believe I can accompany you every step of the way, whether in clinical care, online guidance, or your training through my courses.
